Florida police announced a second arrest Wednesday in the murder of a 15-year-old girl who was shot dead while walking from a movie to McDonald’s with friends last month.
Christopher Devon Horne Jr., 16, was charged with principal of homicide while engaged in a robbery, joining fellow 16-year-old Thomas Stein, Cape Coral Police Chief Anthony Sizemore said. Both boys are charged with murdering Kayla Rincon-Miller on March 17.
Rincon-Miller and two friends who had just seen a movie and were walking to the nearby fast food restaurant at about 9:30 p.m. that night, as CrimeOnline previously reported. A silver Nissan Pathfinder suddenly pulled up, blinding the girls with its lights.
Police said four people jumped out of the vehicle, and one of them shot Rincon-Miller in the chest. The vehicle sped off southbound.
The girls told police they didn’t know the gunman, but police said part of their investigation was to determine if any of the people involved knew them and that they didn’t believe the incident was a random attack.
They also previously said that Stein was not the gunman but have not said if they believe Horne was.
“More arrests are imminent,” Sizemore said.
Stein pleaded not guilty on April 1.
