A Tennessee man was arrested in Kentucky and charged with the shooting death of a woman in Knoxville.
Police in Corbin, Kentucky, responded to a call about a vehicle in a ditch late Thursday and arrested the driver, identified as 49-year-old Michael Merrick, for driving under the influence, WYMT reported.
Later, they discovered a warrant for Merrick’s arrest from Knoxville.
The Knoxville Police Department had obtained a warrant charging Merrick with second degree murder after finding Nicole Fanney, 49, dead in her apartment earlier on Thursday, according to WBIR.
Police said the shooting was believed to be domestic.
Merrick is being held at the Whitley County Detention Center in Kentucky pending extradition to Knoxville.
