A former Rhode Island teacher has been found guilty of molesting three girls under the age of 14.

Attorney General Peter Neronha announced the conviction of Micholas Oliveira, 34, on three charges of second degree child molestation, according to the Fall River Reporter. He is awaiting trial on a charge of first degree child molestation in Connecticut.

According to WJAR, the jury took about three hours to return the guilty verdicts.

Oliveira worked in the Cumberland School District as a special education teacher and an after school educator at the Lincoln YMCA.

Two of the girls testified that they were sleeping over at Oliveira’s house and awoke to find him touching them. The third girl said the incident occurred at a party. Oliveira was a close family friend of all three girls. The incidents took place in 2016 and 2017 and were reported in 2019.

Oliveira was not in court for closing arguments or the verdicts. He was said to have been hospitalized, but it’s not known why.

He had been out on bail since his 2020 arrest, but the bail was revoked after sentencing.
