On Wednesday, Pennsylvania authorities announced that a body found in a duffel bag in March was a 4-year-old boy who was reported missing three months earlier.
On March 18, Community Life Improvement Program workers in Philadelphia were cleaning along the street when they discovered the child’s decomposing body in a duffel bag. Sources told KYW that the clothing on the deceased child matched those Damari Carter was wearing when he vanished on December 30 — and DNA was used to make an identification.

Carter’s mother, Dominique Bailey, 28, allegedly told family members that her son was fatally hit by a car. However, police determined Carter was killed in the home — leading to the arrests of Bailey and her boyfriend Kevin Spencer, 30, for his presumed murder. His body was found more than two months later.
Sources told WPVI that Carter was possibly beaten to death. However, officials have not provided a cause of death as of Wednesday.
Bailey and Spencer are charged with murder, conspiracy, endangering the welfare of children, criminal use of a communication facility, abuse of a corpse, false reporting, and tampering with evidence. They are due in court on June 18.
