Pastor Claims Wife Fatally Shot Herself in Head 6 Months After She Filed for Divorce

North Carolina officials are investigating the death of a woman who was reportedly shot in the head on Saturday.

WPDE reported that Mica Miller, 30, was shot and killed at Lumber River State Park in Lumberton. Roberson County police confirmed they are investigating her death, but her husband, John-Paul Miller, said she killed herself.

Citing court records, the New York Post reported that Mica Miller filed for divorce in October 2023. According to The Robesonian, her family is claiming she also sought a no-contact order days before her death.

John-Paul Miller — a pastor at Solid Rock Church — said his late wife suffered from mental health issues for years. However, Kenn Young, a friend of Mica Miller’s, suggested there may be more to it.

“This has to be at least looked into deeply. There’s got to be some accountability here,” Young told WCNC. “Because yeah, a tragic life was lost, and it’s not just as simple as mental health issues.”

Officials have not yet confirmed Mica Miller’s cause of death.
