Police in suburban Atlanta found a man and three children dead inside a car at a county park early Wednesday morning.
A Gwinnett County police officer was on a routine patrol at Lucky Shoals Park at about 1 a.m. when he spotted a car parked on a pedestrian trail, Gwinnett County Police said. The officer found the four bodies inside after first calling out to the occupants and getting no response.
Investigators said the two girls and a boy appeared to be elementary and middle school aged. They have not released the identities of the victims or confirmed whether they are related.
“It appears the adult is the parent of the three children,” police said, according to WXIA.
They are investigating the incident as a murder-suicide, they said, but the Medical Examiner’s Office will make a final determination.
Investigators did not confirm how the adult and children died but said the injuries included gunshots.
