An Arizona man was arrested on Tuesday after police say he abused his 16-week-old son so egregiously that the child now has permanent brain damage.
Lake Havasu police were called to a home on Saturday because the infant wasn’t breathing, the Mohave Daily News reported. Officers and medics got the child breathing again and rushed him to Havasu Regional Medical Center.
Because his injuries were so severe, he was flown to Las Vegas for further treatment. He remains hospitalized there, where he is intubated.
Doctors told investigators that the child’s injuries weren’t accidentally, and Anthony Eldridge was arrested just before noon on Tuesday.
Eldridge has been charged with one count of child abuse and two counts of aggravated assault, KTVK reported. He’s being held on a $100,000 bond.
