A Florida woman is reportedly still missing after her 9-year-old daughter — the subject of an AMBER Alert — is found alive, while their suspected abductor was discovered dead on Monday.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement canceled the alert an hour after issuing it as the girl was safely located in Suwannee County. Sylvia Pagan, 37, and her daughter vanished in Tampa on Sunday, as CrimeOnline reported — and their abduction was linked to Jovanni Steffani, 38, who was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in Suwannee County on Monday, according to WTVT.
WFLA reported that Steffani fatally shot himself during negotiations with Tampa police. Authorities are concerned for Pagan, who remains unaccounted for in light of recent events.
Pagan was described as standing 5 feet, 3 inches tall and weighing 155 pounds. She was reportedly wearing a dress at the time of her disappearance.
