Missing Teen Girl Is Presumed Dead — And Her Boyfriend Says He Doesn’t Remember Where He Dumped Her Body

North Carolina police announced on Tuesday that they are searching for a 17-year-old girl’s body as they have a man in custody in connection with her presumed death.

WCNC reported that Baylee Carver vanished on Friday after someone called 911 from an Albemarle home. An ensuing investigation determined Carver had died, and her boyfriend, Joshua Biles, 20, was arrested for obstruction and concealing a death.

Authorities believe Biles moved Carver’s body from the home where the 911 call was placed on Friday. However, Biles claimed he does not remember where her body is, according to WSOC.

It is unclear how Carver died, but investigators said she had “obvious wounds” suggesting she is deceased. Authorities have not disclosed how they know this if her body is missing.

Meanwhile, police have asked the public for surveillance images and footage, taken between Friday from 3-4:30 a.m., of a red two-door 1999 Honda Civic with black wheels. The car has North Carolina plates reading RHC-1776. Biles’ identification card was visible on the seat, according to WCNC.

WBTV reported that Biles admitted to using the vehicle to transport Carver’s body to an unknown location. According to WJZY, the car was impounded on Monday.

Detectives said Carver’s phone last pinged in Gold Hill. Her boyfriend remains jailed on a $250,000 bond.
