Developing: Police Search Landfill for Missing 3-Week-Old California Baby, Parents Arrested

Investigators were reportedly searching for the remains of a missing 3-week-old California infant at an Antelope Valley landfill on Tuesday.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Palmdale Station, deputies initially responded to reports of the missing child in the 2300 block of Carolyn Drive in Palmdale. The investigation has now evolved into a recovery case, with detectives searching for the infant’s remains in a nearby landfill in northern Los Angeles County.

Baki Dewees was last seen on May 4 with his father, Yusuf Dewees, 24. The infant’s parents have since been arrested in Utah on unrelated charges, FOX 11 reports, after leaving their home unexpectedly.

“I can’t even cry anymore, Sophia Paulo, the baby’s grandmother, told FOX 11. “I’ve been crying so much, I feel numb.”

Anyone with information on the case is urged to contact homicide detectives at 323-890-5500.
