The body of a missing North Carolina girl was reportedly discovered on Tuesday, days after she vanished under suspicious circumstances.
Albemarle police confirmed to WCCB that Baylee Carver, 17, was found deceased in Cabarrus County, north of Highway 49 and Route 601. An autopsy will be performed to confirm her cause of death.
Carver vanished on Friday after someone called 911 from an Albemarle home. An ensuing investigation determined Carver had died, and her boyfriend, Joshua Biles, 20, was arrested as police tried to locate her remains, as CrimeOnline reported.
Authorities believe Biles moved Carver’s body from the home where the 911 call was placed on Friday. However, Biles allegedly claimed at the time that he did not remember where her body was.
Before Tuesday’s discovery, investigators said Carver suffered “obvious wounds” which suggest she is deceased. Authorities have not disclosed how they knew this before locating Carver’s body.
Biles allegedly admitted to using a vehicle to transport Carver’s body to an unknown location. That car was impounded on Monday.
Biles — who is charged with obstruction and concealing a death — remains jailed on a $250,000 bond. It is unclear whether the charges will be upgraded after the autopsy is completed.
