A 101st Airborne Division soldier was found dead at her home near Fort Campbell, Kentucky, and authorities are looking for her killer.
Private First Class Katia Duenas-Aguilar, 23, was assigned to the division’s Combat Aviation Brigade, Military.com reported.
“We are stunned by the death of Pfc. Duenas-Aguilar,” Lt. Col. Tony Hoefler, spokesperson for the 101st Airborne Division, said in a statement. “In the meantime, we will continue to cooperate with Army and local investigative authorities on this matter.”
Duenas-Aguilar lived about four miles off the base and was a native of Mesquite, Texas. She enlisted as an information technology specialist in 2018, completed basic training the following year at Fort Eisenhower in Georgia, and was assigned to Fort Campbell.
Clarksville Police said they were called to the soldier’s home at about 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Clarksville Now reported. Little information was made available.
“This is still an active and ongoing investigation, no other information is available for release at this time,” police spokesman Officer Scott Beaubien said.
