On January 19, 2001, University of Georgia student Tara Baker was murdered in her apartment.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, Athens police announced earlier this month that they had made a break in the case. Authorities allege that Edrick Lamont Faust, now 48, is responsible for killing Baker, then a student at the University of Georgia School of Law.

Faust has been charged with murder, two counts of felony murder, aggravated assault, concealing the death of another, possession of a knife during the commission of a felony, tampering with evidence, and aggravated sodomy.

The perpetrator sexually assaulted her and then lit the apartment on fire. The case went cold in the town of Athens for over 20 years.
