A $55,000 reward has been offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the killer of a Texas soldier who was found dead in her off-base home near Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) announced a $25,000 reward on Thursday, five days after Private First Class Katia Duenas-Aguilar, 23, was found dead at her home in Clarksville, Tennessee. On Saturday, the organization said that Duenas-Aguilar’s mother, Carmen Aguilar, had committed an additional $30,000 to the reward fund, the Dallas Morning News reported.
Duenas-Aguilar is assigned to the 101st Airborne Division, stationed at Fort Campbell about 4 miles from her home, as CrimeOnline reported. She was a native of Mesquite, Texas, who enlisted in the army in 2018.
Clarksville police found her body at about 8:30 p.m. on May 18. They are investigating the death as a homicide but have provided little information.
“LULAC stands with Carmen Aguilar, mother of the young woman, an army soldier serving her country far from home, whose life has been taken, and we must have justice,” LULAC national president Domingo Garcia said, the Morning News reported. “For this mother to commit, not just money but her total soul, to finding whoever did this deserves our complete and unequivocal support.”
Both Clarksville investigators and military law enforcement are involved in the investigation into Duenas-Aguilar’s death, WKRN reported.
LULAC said she is survived by her mother and a 4-year-old son.
