Florida authorities arrested two men on Saturday for an alleged road rage shooting into an SUV carrying a couple and three children.
The victims called 911 after two men in a Dodge pickup truck began tailgating them, the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said.
“The truck ultimately passed them, forced them halfway off the road, cut them off and came to a stop in front of them,” the department said. “Two men got out of the truck and fired several shots at the victims’ vehicle.”
No one was injured, including the 4-year-old, 6-year-old, and 18-month-old children secured in the back.
The victims followed at a distance at the truck left Volusia County and headed into Brevard County, where deputies conducted a traffic stop.
Chad Morrow, 45, and his passenger, 52-year-old Chad McAninch, were arrested on two counts of attempted murder and three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
According to jail records, Morrow had previously been charged with battery and a DUI in Brevard County, while McAninch had no previous record.
Deputies noted they found nine bullet holes in the SUV along with a shattered front passenger window. Independent witnesses confirmed the events as related by the victims, the sheriff’s office said.
