Developing: Woman Found Dead Inside Alligator’s Mouth, Homicide Investigation Underway

Texas police are investigating after a woman’s body was found in an alligator’s jaws on Tuesday morning in a Houston bayou.

According to KOMO News, police were searching for a missing woman when they discovered human remains in Horsepen Bayou, just west of El Dorado Boulevard. An officer shot and killed the alligator to prevent further damage to the body.

A dive team then retrieved the body and the alligator from the bayou.

“The identity and cause of death of the woman, believed to be in her 60s, are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences,” Houston police said in a press release.

It remains unclear whether the alligator killed the woman or if she died from another cause. Anyone with information on the case is urged to call the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600.
