Following a lengthy trial in Boise, Idaho, Chad Daybell was sentenced to death Saturday for first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder in the killings of Tammy Daybell, Joshua “JJ” Vallow, and Tylee Ryan.

Additionally, he was convicted of insurance fraud.

The jury returned guilty verdicts on Thursday, as CrimeOnline reported. JJ, 7, and Tylee, 16, were found buried on Daybell’s property nine months after their disappearances; Ryan’s remains were dismembered and charred, while J.J. was in a plastic bag.

Tammy Daybell died weeks before her husband, Daybell, married Lori Vallow Daybell, and her death was initially ruled natural.

Her body was exhumed after police began hunting for the two missing children, while Chad and his wife, Lori Vallow Daybell, fled to Hawaii.

Throughout the trial, prosecutors portrayed Daybell as deeply immersed in apocalyptic beliefs, describing him as fixated on the notion of an impending doomsday.

They also highlighted his use of terms like “zombies” and “dark spirits” to refer to others, painting a disturbing picture of his mindset and actions.

Following the guilty verdict, several family members read impact statements, including Tammy’s father, who, according to NBC News, said he was left feeling “angry.”

“It destroys me to know Tammy was treated the way she was,” her father, Ron Douglas, said.

Meanwhile, Vallow Daybell was found guilty of the murders last year and sentenced to life in prison.

She has since been extradited to Arizona to stand trial for conspiracy in the death of her fourth husband, Charles Vallow and the attempted murder of her niece’s ex-husband, Brandon Boudreaux.
