Maryland Cops Search for Sex Offender After Parole Officer Found Dead in His Apartment

Maryland police are searching for a registered sex offender after his parole officer was found dead in his apartment.

The Montgomery County Department of Police said it had obtained a warrant for the arrest of Emanuel Edward Sewell, 54, on a charge of second degree murder. They cautioned that Sewell may be armed and is definitely considered dangerous.

Police said the Maryland Parole and Probation Agent, who has not been identified pending notifications, went to Sewell’s apartment in Chevy Chase for a resident check on Friday but did not return to work after the visit. Montgomery County officers were dispatched shortly before 6 p.m. and found the agent dead. Sewell was not present.

Investigators say Sewell may be driving a gray 2017 Hyundai Elantra with Maryland tag number 93661HT.

The Chief Medical Examiner will provide cause and manner of death of the agent when an autopsy is complete.
