A 43-year-old North Carolina man has been arrested for the murder of his 75-year-old mother.

The Pitt County Sheriff’s Office said they were called to a home in Stokes for “a report of a female that was deceased due to unnatural causes” shortly before 7 p.m. on Saturday.

They found Olivia Musgrave dead inside the home. The department did not say who called them to the home or how Musgrave died. They also didn’t say what information they found that led them to named Richard Davis Musgrave a person of interest in his mother’s murder.

“Evidence collected inside the residence, along with further information gathered during the investigation led detectives to arrest Richard Musgrave at the the crime scene,” the sheriff’s office said.

Musgrave was charged with open murder and is being held without bond.
