A family road trip to Oklahoma from Texas on Friday was nearly fatal after a man allegedly stalked a family for hundreds of miles, shooting at them and ramming their vehicle.
Michael Wayne Young, of Oklahoma City, was arrested and charged with multiple counts of assault with a deadly weapon, stalking and possessing a firearm as a convicted felon, along with other charges, as reported by News on 6.
The road trip family of four, including a husband, wife and two young children, were stalked down Interstate 35 on their way to Tuttle, police said.
The family “called 911 and got the Blanchard Police Department, and Blanchard sent some of their officers out to see if they could locate them and they met them just outside of the proper town, in the city limits,” McClain County Sheriff Landy Offolter said.
Police said Young admitted to the accusations and said he he thought his wife was inside the vehicle, as stated in court documents.
“Very dangerous, very dangerous situation with [the] mother, father and two kids…Domestic violence is on the increase, there’s no doubt of that,” Offolter added.
The family suffered no physical injuries. The father told News 9 that they were OK but disturbed by the incident.
The McClain County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone who witnessed the incident to contact 405-567-4600.
