A former Georgia beauty queen has been indicted for the murder of her boyfriend’s 18-month-old son.
Trinity Poague, the former Miss Donalsonville, faces six counts: malice murder, cruelty to children, and two counts each of felony murder and aggravated battery, according to the indictment handed down late last month.
Poague was initially arrested in January after the toddler was taken to Phoebe Sumter Hospital in Americus, as CrimeOnline reported. At the time, it wasn’t clear how the 18-year-old was connected with the child.
According to WALB, the boy — identified as Romeo Angeles, also known as Jaxton Dru — was found on January 14 at a dormitory on the campus of Georgia Southwestern State University, where Poague was a student.
The indictment says that Poague caused the child’s death “by inflicting blunt force trauma to the head and torso of his body.” The indictment further says that Poague did severe damage to the child’s brain and liver and inflicted “cruel and excessive physical pain” upon the child.

Further details were not available. Sumter County’s deputy coroner, Mathis Wright, told WALB that the autopsy has not been completed and that the Georgia Bureau of Investigation has not completed its investigation.
Poague was released on a $75,000 bond after her initial arrest in January, according to the Early County News. It’s not clear if she was arrested after the indictment, but she is not listed on Sumter County’s jail roster as of Sunday.
An arraignment date has not been scheduled, WALB said.
Poague was chosen as Miss Donalsonville in 2023 and competed but did not place in the National Peanut Festival Pageant. She was stripped of her title after her initial arrest, the Early County News said.
