SC Man Drove 8 Hours to Florida to Shoot Dad Over Property Dispute: Cops

A South Carolina man has been arrested on charges related to a shooting incident in Florida in February that wounded his father and another man.

Sean Bigwood, 53, fired more than 30 times into the home in Grant-Valkaria because of a property dispute, Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey said Saturday.

Both victims, who were not identified, were shot multiple times and survived. Ivey said that Bigwood’s father was the target of the attack; the other man, a friend of the father, was visiting at the time of the shooting.

Bigwood has been charged with two counts of attempted murder with a firearm, burglary with battery, and armed burglary with a firearm. He is being held without bond.

The two victims told police that their assailant fired at them from a patio outside the house and was dressed in black and wearing a ski mask.

“One of the callers stated that he believed the shooter was his son based on the stature of the shooter and a recent property dispute that was taking place between the two of them,” Ivey said.

Investigators spent months pouring over surveillance videos between the Florida house and Bigwood’s home in Rock Hill, South Carolina and phone records to determine that the suspect left work “unexpectedly” on the morning of the shooting and drove to Florida.

They also conducted a search of the Rock Hill residence after the arrest and seized items related to the investigation.
