An 11-year-old New Mexico boy’s alleged violent month-long crime spree came to a halt late Thursday after Albuquerque police apprehended him.
KRQE News reports the boy may be part of a national criminal group of minors known as the “Kia Boys,” according to a witness. They are known to take Kias because of the ease of stealing.
“I am grateful that we took this young suspect into custody without our officers having to use force,” APD Chief Harold Medina said. “Despite his age, this suspect is considered very dangerous because of his use of a firearm and his escalating violence.”
According to NBC News, the juvenile faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy, shooting at or from a motor vehicle, shooting into an occupied dwelling, aggravated battery, unlawful possession of a weapon by a minor, non-residential burglary, criminal damage to property over $1,000, and conspiracy to commit a fourth-degree felony.

Police subsequently released a timeline of the crime spree.
May 5
- Car Theft: A vehicle was stolen.
May 12
- Rock Attacks:
- Incident 1: A woman reported that children were “throwing rocks at the residence and trying to break the windows.” She was hit in the leg.
- Incident 2: Another home was targeted by a rock-throwing attack.
- Burglary:
- A vehicle crashed into the front of a business while reversing, resulting in $15,000 in theft and damages.
May 29
- Shooting Incident:
- A man asked four boys to leave the area outside his house. They returned and shot at him, leaving a 9mm casing at the scene.
June 1
- Gun Recovered:
- A man was shot in the hand, and a 9mm gun was found at the scene.
