An Ohio woman was arrested this week after she allegedly admitted putting two young children in a bathtub of hot water and physically preventing them from getting out.
A criminal complaint against 22-year-old Malynda Harrison says that one of the children suffered a seizure and second-degree burns, while the other child had first- and second-degree burns, WSAZ reported.
The children were 5- and 4-years-old, police said. The older child suffered the seizure.
Harrison was initially arrested on Sunday for the injuries suffered by that child, a girl. The complaint says she admitting putting the children in the scalding hot tub and refusing to let them out or adjust the water temperature.
“I want to personally thank the first responders who provided care for this young child on the night that she suffered these horrible injuries. I would also like to thank and praise our detectives who have worked diligently to seek justice for this child to ensure that her abuser is held accountable,” said Gallia County Sheriff Matt Champlin.
Harrison is charged with child endangerment. Investigators did not describe her relationship with the children.
