‘We ask from the depth of our hearts’: Family Pleads for Help as Anniversary of Texas Mother’s Disappearance Nears

Texas mother Cecilia Gallegos is still missing after almost five years, and her family is hoping her husband will help them find closure.

Her husband, Reyes Gallegos, was charged with murder in 2021 in connection with his wife’s 2019 disappearance, according to San Antonio Express. Now, Cecilia’s sister, Mireya Lopez, is pushing for Reyes to take a polygraph test.

“We ask from the depth of our hearts to consider taking a polygraph test,” Lopez said outside the Bexar County Justice Center, according to News4SA. “It’s a small step that could mean everything to us.”

“Our family, Cecilia’s children, deserve to know the truth. I stand before you today, not as a voice of anger or accusations, but as a sister who seeks answers.”

“Reyes, if you are listening or watching this, help us find some answers. Help us find some peace…This is not an attack on you, Reyes. This is an opportunity for you to step forward.”

As CrimeOnline previously reported, Gallegos was initially arrested for making false statements after police said he lied about the last time his wife was seen at home.

According to an arrest affidavit, the incident started when Gallegos called San Antonio police on July 8, 2019, to report that he had gotten into an argument with Cecilia about infidelity.

FOX San Antonio reports that Gallegos told police that Cecilia walked away from their home off of the 5600 block of Southwick in Northwest San Antonio after the argument. He also reportedly claimed she cut him on his finger with a knife before leaving.

Security footage at the home, however, tells a different story, investigators said.

According to outdoor security footage at the residence, Cecilia arrived home at 7:30 p.m. on July 7, 2019. Indoor footage showed Cecilia walking into her bedroom shortly after arriving home. She never appeared on footage again and was never seen leaving the home.

The following morning, on July 8, Gallegos allegedly turned the security cameras off for around two hours. When he turned the security cameras back on, he was “seen going in and out of the bedroom and moving about the house,” the affidavit read.

Gallegos was also seen “unloading two shovels and a chainsaw,” according to police. The arrest affidavit stated that Gallegos, drenched with sweat after loading items into his vehicle several times, walked inside his home and took a shower. Afterward, he called police to report Cecilia missing.

Family members indicated Cecilia’s cell phone, personal belongings, and car were left behind, along with her children. Cecilia’s sister said red flags were raised when Cecilia disappeared without her children.

Meanwhile, Stacy January, the former Guardian ad Litem for Celina Gallegos’ children, told CrimeOnline that “the children miss their mother and not knowing their mother’s whereabouts has been very hard for [the children].”

“They miss their mother so much and wish she could be located,” she added.

Reyes is currently out on bond and scheduled to stand trial in August.
