Texas police are investigating after a driver and his passenger were shot Tuesday while traveling on a San Antonio street, forcing him to veer off the road and into a culvert.
The car struck a homeless man and woman who were sitting in the culvert, pinning the man beneath the car and killing him, KENS reported. The passenger in the car was killed by the gunfire. The driver and the woman in the culvert were rushed to the hospital, where she is expected to survive and the driver is in critical condition.
Police have not said if the shooting, on West Martin Street in San Antonio, was a road rage shooting or something else. They did not provide a description of the shooter or the vehicle the shooter was in.
The incident took place at about 11:15 p.m. Witnesses said the shooter’s vehicle pulled up alongside the victims’ vehicle and opened fire.
The car crashed into the culvert, striking the man and woman. Police said witnesses took the driver to the hospital.
