On Thursday, Rachel Morin’s accused killer was extradited to Maryland from Oklahoma — where he was arrested on Saturday after 10 months on the run.
KJRH reported that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security took Victor Martinez-Hernandez, 23, from Tulsa County Jail and transported him to Maryland, where prosecutors will seek to have him jailed without bail. Officials have said Martinez-Hernandez illegally entered the country from El Salvador, where he is the suspect in another murder.
On Saturday, Martinez-Hernandez was arrested at a sports bar in Tulsa. WMAR reported that his capture came following an FBI tip.

Police believe that months before Morin’s murder in August, Martinez-Hernandez assaulted a 9-year-old girl during a home invasion in California.
Morin, 37, was found dead in a drainage ditch along Bel Air’s Ma and Pa hiking trail on August 6, a day after her boyfriend reported her missing. Shortly afterward, DNA evidence linked Morin’s murder to the March 2023 home invasion and assault in California.
Martinez-Hernandez is believed to have entered the country illegally a month after killing a woman in El Salvador.
A bail review in Martinez-Hernandez’s case in Maryland is scheduled for Friday.
