Developing: Tot, 3, Found Dead After Wandering From Foster Home

A toddler who wandered away from a West Virginia foster home was found dead Tuesday, police said.

According to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a call about a missing 3-year-old child shortly before 9 p.m., who was last seen home on Happy Valley Road in Parkersburg. The child reportedly wandered away undetected.

The Eastwood and Mineral Wells Volunteer Fire Departments joined the search efforts. The search team found the child in the water near a dock.

Although lifesaving measures were administered, the child subsequently passed away at an area hospital.

Child Protective Services is now involved in the incident, according to WVVA, but no foul play is suspected at this time.
