A masked boy stood up in a crowded Missouri theater Saturday afternoon and opened fire with a fake gun that fired gel beads.
The boy fled theater after his attack and was later found in a nearby parking lot, Creve Coeur police said. Fortunately, the boy’s reckless actions didn’t hurt anyone.
Officers recovered the gun and the boy’s mask, although they didn’t say where. The gun was multi-colored and clearly not a real gun, but that wasn’t obvious in the darkened theater during the movie.
St. Louis Today reported that families, who had been watching “Inside Out 2,” left the theater after the incident “terrified.”
The boy has been charged in St. Louis County Family Court.
Several large retailers have stopped selling the beads used in such guns because small children can swallow them, KSDK reported. The guns themselves are still available from the same retailers, and the beads are available elsewhere.
