A Florida man was killed early Tuesday after embarking on a shooting spree that left three women dead.
Javontee Brice, 29, who died during a shootout with police, allegedly first shot his 48-year-old mother at a Motel 6 in Bradenton. Brice was believed to have been traveling to Georgia when, about 30 minutes after the initial shooting, he gunned down his 29-year-old cousin as she sat in a parked SUV in Palmetto, according to the Bradenton Herald.
The 29-year-old woman died an hour later. Witnesses at both shootings reportedly identified Brice as the gunman, as CrimeOnline previously reported.
Police were investigating the two shootings when they learned of a third shooting in Bradenton. In that shooting, Brice went to a home where his ex-girlfriend was living with her new partner. Police said Brice fatally shot his ex’s partner and fled the scene.
Hours later, Hamilton County police stopped Brice’s car near the Florida-Georgia line. Officers fatally shot Brice after he exited his vehicle and opened fire. No police officers were injured.
While carrying out Monday’s shootings, Brice allegedly posted on Facebook about his plans to kill multiple people close to him.
WTVT reported that Brice had gone to the Motel 6 where his mother was staying with her boyfriend and Brice’s two young sisters. Brice allegedly told his mother, ‘”I’m sorry” before shooting her when she asked what he did.
Roughly 15 minutes before shooting his mother, Brice reportedly went to the Palmetto Trace apartments where his sister and another ex-girlfriend were. Brice left without shooting anyone after his sister convinced him not to kill his ex-girlfriend, who he has a child with, according to WTVT.
Officials have not yet disclosed a motive in Monday’s shootings.
