A Kentucky man has been charged with the murders of his wife and mother-in-law last week after telling law enforcement he “had a job” to kill them.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office said it responded to the home in Pleasureville at about 8:30 p.m. on Friday and found two women — 56-year-old Beth Simmons and her daughter, 33-year-old Emily Hunt — shot.

Simmons was pronounced dead at the scene, and Hunt was taken to a hospital in critical condition. She died on Sunday, WDRB reported.

Hunt’s husband, 32-year-old Michael Hunt, was arrested on Friday and charged with murder and attempted murder. According to an affidavit, Hunt told investigators after he was taken in for questioning that “he had a job to take both females out and that he he had shot both victims in the head.”

Hunt’s attempted murder charge has since been upgraded to murder, jail records show.
