A New Jersey mother has been charged with murder after her two toddlers were found dead inside an Ocean County home on Tuesday.
The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office said that Lakewood Township police were called to the home just before 5 p.m. and found emergency medical services “rendering aid to two minor children, ages one and three-years-old.”
The efforts were ultimately unsuccessful, and the two children were pronounced dead on the scene.
Investigators determined that the younger child had been stabbed, that both had been drowned, and that 27-year-old Naomi Elkins was responsible for their deaths.
Elkins has been charged with two counts of murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon. She is being held at the Ocean County Jail pending a detention hearing.
