A North Carolina woman was arrested on Wednesday, the same day her 8-year-old daughter reportedly died in her car.
Ashlee Stallings’ daughter was pronounced dead after she was found unresponsive in a vehicle parked at a NAPA Auto Parts in Charlotte. A source told WSOC that the girl was left in Stallings’ car while she worked.
Stallings, 36, allegedly told police that her daughter was in the hot car while she worked at the Amazon distribution center. She allegedly took her daughter to the auto parts store, where police and paramedics responded.
It was 94 degrees on the day Stallings’ daughter died in her car.
Stallings is charged with involuntary manslaughter and child abuse causing serious injury. Her bond was set at $250,000.
If confirmed, Stallings’ daughter would be the fifth child to have died in a hot car this year. According to No Heat Stroke, 29 children died of vehicular heatstrokes in 2023.
