Police in Texas have arrested a man connected with the death of a 42-year-old mother of two who was found dead in her apartment more than a year ago.
Aaron James Declouette, 61, was charged on Friday with tampering with or fabricating evidence, the Schertz Police Department said.
Police said Sipes’s death was suspicious, but her family isn’t satisfied.
“There is no closure,” her sister, Amy Sipes, told KENS. “I still text her phone every day. I know she is not going to respond. But, it is just to let her know what is going on. I send pictures. It is just my way of coping right now.”
Family asked police for a welfare check on May 26, 2023, and investigators found the body. They have not said how she died.
Amy Sipes believes that her sister was murdered.
“I know the arrest for the murder of my sister needs to happen,” she said.
She said she feels “no way” about Declouette’s arrest.
“I will feel a way when someone is arrested for the murder of Lisa,” she said.
Her sister was “an amazing person,” Sipes said, a loving mother and an Air Force veteran.
Schertz Police have provided no further information, and Declouette has bonded out of jail.
