Tennessee Man Stabs Wife, Douses Her With Gasoline, Sets House on Fire

A Tennessee man was arrested Monday after police say he stabbed his wife over and over, poured gasoline on her, and set the family home on fire.

Zachary Mowel, 28, is charged with attempted murder, aggravated arson, aggravated assault, and domestic assault. the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said.

Firefighters and police responded to a housefire in Dickson late Monday afternoon and found heavy smoke pouring from the home and a woman by the back door with a knife inside her, WKRN reported.

Court documents say Mowel approached officers and said, “I did it. It was me.”

The wife, who was not named, is still hospitalized at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.

Mowel is being held on a $765,000 bond.
