An Ohio man has been charged with aggravated arson after a woman was found dead in an apartment fire in southeast Columbus last week.
Edith Saintilus, 53, was found dead as firefighters extinguished the June 27 blaze at Columbus Park Apartments, WBNS reported.
Columbus Police said that arson investigators found “a number of circumstances” that led to the see the death as suspicious, and the coroner’s office determined Saintilus’s death was a homicide.
Salvador Dumond, 46, was arrested on Tuesday. Investigators said they were working with the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office on additional charges, including murder.
Dumond was arraigned on Wednesday, WSYX reported. Court documents said that Dumond was Saintilus’s boyfriend and that video reportedly showed him leaving the apartment minutes before smoke was seen.
