Florida Man Guns Down Father, Lies That It Was Self Defense Until Cops Show Him Video

A Florida man has been charged with first degree murder after he gunned down his father and then called police told them he shot him in self-defense.

Brandon Cain, 23, called 911 on July 3, saying he had shot his father and was waiting for police to arrive, WESH reported.

Palm Bay Police officers arrived and found Daniel Cain Jr., 52, dead outside the home. His son pretended to cooperate with the officer and explained that they’d had an altercation and he shot his father in self defense.

But police found video footage that showed the events leading up to the shooting did not match with the son’s claims.

According to WFTV, the video they found showed the entire shooting from several different angles. In it, Daniel Cain is first seen sitting outside the home when his son comes out of the house. Police said Brandon Cain walked out the front door with gun in his hand, hidden behind his back.

After an exchange of words, which could not be heard because the video didn’t have audio, the younger man walks toward his father, with the gun still behind his back. The father stands up and stumbles, and then his son raises his gun and fires multiple rounds, dropping the father to the ground.

While Daniel Cain lies motionless on the ground, his son raises the gun again and fires more rounds at his father from about 3 feet away, then walks back inside the house without even checking on his father.

When detectives interviewed Brandon Cain a second time, he told them his father moved toward him “aggressively,” prompting him to shoot him. Detectives showed him the video, and he claimed not to remember it happening that way.

Brandon Cain was arrested on Tuesday and charged with first degree premeditated murder, reckless discharge of a firearm, and shooting a deadly missile into an unoccupied vehicle.
