Police in Indiana are investigating the death of an Indianapolis woman found in a storage tote in the woods Sunday, a week after she was reported missing.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) police discovered the body of 36-year-old Tara Capps in a storage container in a wooded area on the city’s south side. Capps’ family informed police that they received a tip suggesting she might be in the woods behind a food distribution center on South Keystone Avenue.
On Sunday, the family searched the area and found Capps dead inside a storage tote, according to FOX 59. She had been fatally shot.
“It’s hard. I don’t wish this on anybody,” Capps’ mother, Virginia Summers, told FOX 59. “She did not deserve it. Anybody that does that is just a monster. It’s just uncalled-for.”
Police told Fox News Digital that they are treating the case as a homicide investigation, but have not yet released information on a suspect or motive.
A police spokespersons said they are following several leads and should know more after the autopsy report is received early next week.
“I just hope they find the people that did this. Nobody deserves to be like this ever,” Summers said. “I won’t stop. I don’t care if it’s 10 years or 20 years. I will not stop. Until I die, I won’t stop until we have justice. I will not stop.”
