A Georgia mother is still seeking justice for her infant’s death, caused by a stray bullet in 2022, as they drove home from a friend’s house.
11Alive reports that it has been two and a half years since 6-month-old Grayson Fleming-Gray was killed, and his mother is frustrated that the suspects have yet to be brought to trial.
Most felony cases are concluded within 365 days, according to The National Center for State Courts Data, yet Grayson’s case has lasted over 850 days.
In January 2022, Kerri Gray and Grayson were on their way home from a friend’s house near Anderson Park in the Atlanta area. Gray saw two cars speed by her, and then she saw gunshots from at least one of the cars.
“I saw the gun. I saw the barrel of the gun come straight out of the backseat window.”

Gray pulled off the road to get out of the way. She went to check on her baby, and what she saw next forever changed her life.
“I opened up the (car) door and I saw him slumped over and I thought he was sleeping because he sleeps like that sometimes,” Gray said.
Grayson was covered in blood from a stray gunshot wound to the head.
Dequasie Little and Charice Ingram have been arrested for murder and aggravated assault in relation to Grayson’s death. The Fulton County District Attorney’s Office says a trial date is anticipated for the fall of this year after two previous dates were canceled. Prosecutors found supplementary charges against the suspects that caused the delay.
Gray remains in a state of limbo, waiting for the trial and closure.
“When you think you’re just coming to the finish line and then all of a sudden, it’s like a ‘gotcha’ where they flip a sign, and it says start. And you’re at the start and starting all over again.”
