Police in Maine are investigating after a 17-year-old boy was found shot dead in the middle of a road in Lewiston.

Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said that witnesses reported seeing a silver Mercedes and a black Dodge Challenger at the scene where Sahal Murdi was found dead, WCSH reported.

Police have identified the driver of the Mercedes, who is said to be cooperating with investigators.

The incident took place at about 10:30 p.m. Sunday night.

Maine State Police are working with Lewiston Police to investigate.
