A man was charged on Friday with mutilating a Brazilian woman whose body was discovered in Michigan late last month.
On June 30, a passerby reportedly found Suzan Barbosa-Ferreira’s body in a culvert in Northfield Township. Police traced Barbosa-Ferreira’s last whereabouts to a Dearborn home late last month, according to The Detroit News.
Reports indicated that Barbosa-Ferreira was visiting from Brazil when she was killed. Fareed George Hajjar, who lives in Dearborn, has been charged in connection with her death, according to the Detroit Free Press.
Officials have not disclosed how Barbosa-Ferriera died. It is also unclear how she and Hajjar are connected.
Held on a $2 million bond, Hajjar is charged with disinterment and mutilation and concealing an individual’s death. He is due in court on July 25.
