A police officer reportedly fatally shot someone a mile from the Republican National Convention in Wisconsin, according to emerging reports.
Two Milwaukee law enforcement sources told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that the shooting transpired outside the security perimeter of the RNC, which commenced on Monday. Since then, Brian Steel, president of the Fraternal Order of Police Capitol City Lodge Number 9, confirmed that an out-of-town police officer from Columbus, Ohio, was involved in a shooting.
Right now, it is unclear whether the deadly incident was related to the convention — which has been on high alert since Saturday’s deadly shooting at a Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

The incident occurred days after former President Donald Trump was reportedly shot in the ear at the rally. An attendee was fatally shot before a Secret Service agent killed suspect Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, who was allegedly firing from a roof as Trump took the stage.
The RNC continues through Thursday.
