Los Angeles police took a 20-year-old man into custody early Sunday morning after he allegedly stabbed his mother to death and injured his father.

Police officers responded to the home in the Wilmington neighborhood around 12:30 a.m. and found a 42-year-old woman dead and took the 50-year-old man to the hospital, where he was in stable condition and expected to survive, KABC reported.

The suspect was found at the scene completely naked and was taken to a hospital for an evaluation.

Police said thwere investigating whether the son was under the influence of drugs, but a motive is not known.

The suspect and victims have not been publicly identified.
