Miami International Airport erupted into chaos Saturday night when a man stabbed a woman multiple times and then tried to throw her over the 4th floor railing at Concourse J’s arrivals section in the south terminal.
Miami Dade Police said the woman escaped and ran down to the 3rd floor, where police found her, WTVJ reported.
The attack took place on the 4th floor of Concourse J at about 11:30 p.m., police said. A man stabbed the woman, who was not named, several times. She escaped and fled down the stairs to the 3rd floor, were she encountered police.
The suspect, identified as 29-year-old Alexander Love, was taken into custody and charged with attempted murder.
The initial call came in as a possible active shooter, briefly disrupting airport operations. Concourses H and J were evacuated, WSVN reported, and operations resumed after all passengers were rescreened.
Police said they arrested the suspect in the area where the stabbing happened. They also said they found the knife used in the attack.
Investigators said they don’t yet know the relationship between the attacker and victim, what led to the attack, or whether they were passengers.
