Florida prosecutors said on Monday that a 16-year-old boy will be charged as an adult for killing his ex-girlfriend’s mother last month.
On June 27, Eli Shinhoster allegedly fatally shot Eulalia Gonzalez Martin De Osorio, 39, as she held her 1-month-old daughter on the front porch of her Homestead home. Martin De Osorio was found shot in the head and lying on top of her infant, who was unharmed, according to WTVJ.
Authorities said that Martin De Osorio’s daughter had broken up with Shinhoster two months earlier. Since then, Shinhoster had been threatening his ex-girlfriend — telling her that if he could not have her no one else could, WTVJ reported.
Shinhoster allegedly admitted to taking a rideshare to Martin De Osorio’s home and shooting her before putting the gun in his waistband and ordering another rideshare back home.
Shinhoster and the victim’s daughter had dated for nine months. WSVN reported that Shinhoster had shot his ex-girlfriend’s mother in the eye.
A neighbor told WPLG that s he overheard Shinhoster say, “I’ll fire,” before shooting Martin De Osorio. Detectives reportedly reviewed surveillance footage showing last month’s slaying
Shinhoster, who was arrested at his home, is charged with first-degree murder. WTVJ reported that he is expected to be moved from Miami-Dade’s Juvenile Detention Center to adult custody.
