A 20-year-old Georgia man has been charged with murder in the death of his pregnant ex-girlfriend, 16-year-old Mia Campos.
Gwinnett County Police upgraded charges against Jesus Monroy on Tuesday to malice murder, felony murder, feticide, and aggravated assault, WXIA reported.
Monroy was initially charged with lying to police after Campos’s family found her body on July 15, CrimeOnline reported. She was seven months pregnant.
Family members used the girl’s cell phone to find her, less than a mile from her Loganville home.
According to an arrest warrant, Monroy, the baby’s father, lured Campos to the entrance of her neighborhood and killed her by asphyxiation, WANF reported.
Monroy is being held without bond and is due in court on July 25, WAGA said.
