A Kentucky woman was arrested on Sunday afer her 20-month-old child overdosed on drugs.
Jasmine Bartolo was charged with four counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, first degree criminal child abuse 12 or under, possession of marijuana, and trafficking in carfentanil or fentanyl derivative, the Hopkinsville Police Department said in a statement.
Police said they were called to Jennie Stuart Medical Center after the child had been brought in. Emergency room personnel administered life-saving measures and then transferred the toddler to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee, for more advanced care. The child’s current condition is not known.
Detectives and medical personnel then went to the child’s home, where they found a firearm, marijuana, and pills suspected to be fentanyl.
They called in the state Department of Children-Based Services, who removed four other children from the home.
Bartolo, 25, was booked into the Christian County Detention Center, where she was still behind bars Wednesday night.
