A Kentucky woman was arrested last month for keeping her 10-year-old daughter in a dog kennel for days.
Sheila Mann, 31, allegedly abused her daughter from January through March of this year. Mann’s daughter not only claimed her mother tried to slit her throat, but she also strangled her for a brief period, according to WKYT.
The victim reportedly also claimed that Mann put her in a dog cage for several days.
“The victim, who is under the age of 12, had disclosed to investigators that Ms. Mann had locked her inside a dog kennel-type cage for two to three days at a time and would only allow her to exit that dog cage just to use the bathroom,” Richmond Police Chief Rodney Richardson said.
From jail, Mann told WKYT that her daughter was not forced to stay in a kennel and the allegations stemmed from an incident in which Mann was the victim.
Mann is charged with strangulation, criminal abuse, and unlawful imprisonment. Her daughter is reportedly in foster care.
