Ex-Girlfriend, 2 Others Charged With Conspiracy to Kill Louisiana College Student

Three people have been charged with conspiracy to murder a Louisiana college student who was found shot to death in western Mississippi earlier this month.

The West Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested Derek Terrell Hollins Jr, 21; Calajia Jack, 20; and Allyah Martin, 21; in the death of Martin’s ex-boyfriend, Southern University sophomore Steven Harris, WBRZ reported.

The three suspects are also under investigation in Wilkinson County, Mississippi, where Harris was found shot multiple times and where investigators believe the shooting took place.

“We’re aware that Mississippi authorities are pursuing charges in this case; however, we believe the plan to commit this crime was hatched here; and the initial phases leading up to Steven’s death began here in West Feliciana Parish,” West Feliciana Parish Sheriff Brian Spillman said.

Spillman told the station that investigators concluded that the three suspects conspired to lure Harris to Mississippi. The sheriff said it’s believed Hollins used a Glock modified into an automatic weapon to kill the young man.

Harris, a sophomore who played in the Southern University Human Jukebox Marching Band, had not been seen since July 17, when he was supposed to attend a custody hearing for the 18-month-old son he had with Martin. His body was found near Pond, Mississippi, on Wednesday, and investigators said it appeared to have been there for a week.

Harris and Martin had a contentious break-up, with both filing restraining orders against the other until they agreed to a mutual “stay-away” order. Their son was born in October 2022, and Harris filed a custody suit. The eventually settled on a joint custody agreement with the boy living mostly with Martin while Harris had visitation.

But Harris filed a contempt complaint after Martin allegedly moved to Texas without notifying him in violation of their custody agreement.

According to WAFB, Hollins is being held on a $450,000 bond, Martin a $350,000 bond, and Jack $365,000 bond. All three are facing the conspiracy charge, and Hollins has also been charged with possession of a machine gun.
