The search for a missing 6-year-old boy in Maryland reportedly ended Sunday with the discovery of his body.
Fawzan Hassanwas last seen Saturday at Bohrer Park in Gaithersburg. Hassan’s father told WUSA that he left the kids with his mother-in-law while he quickly went to get something from the car — only to return and discover his son was missing.
Reports indicated that Hassan was autistic and nonverbal.
The pond where Hassan was found was not far from the park where he vanished. Investigators said the pond was searched two times before community members discovered Hassan’s body.
MCPD Lieutenant Kristina Hedgepeth told WUSA that divers did not search the pond due to snapping turtles.
An autopsy will be performed to confirm his cause of death, though foul play is not suspected.
